Recorded Live at the Bottom Line, New York, May,
17th - 21st, 1978
Notes to the Spanish version:
"The cover and the inside sleeve comics
used in this album are originally from Nazario, a famous spanish Comic
illustrator in those times. This was the cover of a Spanish book, mixture
of Comic, Magazine and Fanzine. Lou told someone else (not need to mention
it) to draw it for his LP cover without asking permission to the author,
saying that Nazario and the other illustrators in the book never ask any
permission to him to use his image. There was a sue from the Editors and
Nazario against Lou Reed for the copyright of the illustration, and the
cover for this LP here in Spain was changed to another one with a photograph
of Lou in stage in his blonde-hair times. (the first German CD issue contains
the original cover for the first time in Spain)."
Notes about the new remastered edition:
Take No Prisoners - 9/24/2002 - Arista/BMG Heritage
Reed's remarkable powers of provocation are amply displayed on the live
'Take No Prisoners,' to be issued on CD for the first time ever in the
U.S. with new liner notes from David Fricke. Recorded at New York's Bottom
Line in May 1978, as punk was beginning its ascent, the album finds Reed
lashing out at his audience and the music business in a series of explosive
monologues, set against a backdrop of his greatest hits. Reed names names,
veering from digressions on Norman Mailer, his high-school athletic career,
and the price of drugs during expansive and radically rearranged versions
of hits such as "Walk on the Wild Side," "Sweet Jane,"
and "Coney Island Baby." |

The Raven is being released in both one
and two-CD versions: "It's coming out in its original format, the
grand presentation, which contains everything," says Reed, "and
then the smaller, pared down version, either for those who don't want
to listen to two hours of it, or who want to try it out before committing
to the two hours. So there's the grand mal version or the exquisite but
smaller version."
